Third Week of Advent - Joy
Sunday Dec. 14th- Saturday Dec. 20th
Advent joy is more than emotion — it is a deep assurance that God is faithful, present, and working for our good. Christ’s coming brings joy that cannot be shaken, reminding us that we belong to Him and His promises never fail.
What is Biblical Joy?
Joy is a fruit of the Spirit — not dependent on feelings.
Scripture examples:
“Rejoice in the Lord always.” (Philippians 4:4)
The angel: “I bring you good news of great joy.” (Luke 2:10)
Why Joy Matters in Advent
Advent is meant to lift our hearts and strengthen our faith.
Joy protects our mind from doubt and discouragement.
Joy gives our spirit confidence in God’s faithfulness.
Joy invites us to celebrate redemption even before we see fulfillment.
Obstacles to Joy
Stress and busyness
Disappointment or past hurt
Fatigue and spiritual dryness
Hopelessness or worry
But Advent reminds us that joy is not absent in struggle — it is born in it.
